BMW R1300GSA
NZBIKE.COM Flagship Adventure
Meet the new benchmark for long-distance adventure riding: the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure — now part of NZBIKE’s flagship fleet. Designed to carry a rider, luggage and a passenger comfortably across long New Zealand stages, the R 1300 GSA blends a hugely capable, compact 1,300 cc boxer engine with an off-road worthy chassis, a cavernous fuel tank and a comprehensive electronics suite so you can focus on the road (or the gravel) ahead.
This is a true travel machine. The Adventure version adds a big 30 Litre (8-gallon) fuel tank and a beefed-up subframe with mounting points and storage areas built in — ideal for the multi-day tour routes we ride here in Aotearoa. The engine is the latest evolution of BMW’s boxer: compact, lighter than the previous generation and rated at 107 kW (≈145 hp) with 149 Nm of torque, giving strong, usable performance throughout the rev range. That translates to effortless overtakes, relaxed cruising at highway speeds and plenty of roll-on for loaded touring.
Our R 1300 GSA’s have adaptive vehicle-height making the seat height either 841(or 859 mm in the high seat position) when engaged for easier footing, handy for riders who want the Adventure’s range and protection without feeling perched too high. The road-ready (wet) weight is about 593 lb — roughly 269 kg — which, combined with the narrowed tank platform, makes the bike more manageable than you’d expect for its class.
Underneath those tidy lines is a properly modern GS chassis: BMW’s EVO Telelever front end and EVO Paralever rear suspension, shaft drive, radial front brakes, cross-spoked wheels and a raft of rider aids. Our R1300GSA’s Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning and Lane Change Warning — plus a Headlight Pro matrix LED system and the available Automated Shift Assistant for clutchless changes. In short: the R 1300 GSA is built to get you further, safer and more comfortably than ever.
Why hire the R 1300 GSA from NZBIKE.COM
If your plan is to cross the South Island, follow the Forgotten World Highway, tackle the thermal plains or take long coastal runs, the R 1300 GSA is built for those missions. Our new bikes arrive full-spec for touring: large fuel range for long stages, premium alloy luggage, tall adjustable windscreen and hand protection, we have both low and high seats making the already adjustable ride height even more flexible. Because these are full-spec Adventure machines, they’re perfect for customers who want to experience New Zealand’s long-distance touring at the highest comfort and capability level. (As you know, these new R 1300 GSA machines are NZBIKE’s flagship additions and are exclusive to our rental fleet in New Zealand.)

Reviews
"The classic styling, the retro DNA, the boxer twin thump, the flat-yet-soulful exhaust note. It sounds like a decent recipe for the BMW fan who might be less keen on following the more traditional GS route. We were introduced to a similar looking concept bike at the Wheels and Waves event in France back in 2016 known as Lac Rose based on a G/S, GS and R nineT combination though that became the R nineT Urban G/S. And just like that model, we're expecting the R12 G/S to offer the same degree of ownership pride when you open that garage door. Naturally, we'll update this section once we've ridden the bike."

"It’s a simple, a stripped down feel-good bike with a boxer-twin engine that oozes character and a mean punch and that’s what makes the BMW shine so brightly."
